Anthony Nicholas, the name behind Blast Furnace Designs, plunges into the industrial universe of Ohio, where his studio is located, to showcase a collection full of mechanical references. The designer uses the landscapes left by old factories, abandoned or deactivated in that state as a point of support for his creations. Rust and blast furnace operators, heavy machinery parts and the dark environment illustrate their clothing in a variety of ways: hand painted in leather jackets or printed on cotton blouses produced in the United States.
But these old machines, valves and industrial tools sometimes undergo surreal adaptations and gain cool status at the hands of Anthony Nicholas. The surrealistic universe of Blast Furnace Designs is here, in the hand painted leather jacket of today’s look, apparently showcasing mysterious and obscure characters of an industrial city.
